DESCRIPTION:This presentation will cover the development of QGIS plugins ac
ross various fields\, catering to different types of users. By showcasing
examples from ship simulations\, nautical risk assessments\, and farming a
ssessments\, the presentation aims to highlight the unique challenges and
solutions encountered during the development process.\n\nThe session will
delve into the creation of publicly available plugins such as OMRAT (Open
Maritime Risk Assessment Tool) and GeodataFarm3\, as well as in-house proj
ects tailored to specific needs. Attendees will gain insights into the tec
hnical and practical aspects of plugin development\, including user requir
ements\, coding challenges\, and integration with existing QGIS functional
ities.\n\nThrough real-world case studies\, the presentation will illustra
te how these plugins have been utilized to address complex problems in the
ir respective domains. For instance\, OMRAT aims to increase the understan
ding of the sensitivity of the input parameters in nautical risk assessmen
ts\, while GeodataFarm3 has aims to help farmers with data management and
analysis in farming. Where over 500 farms all around the world have tested
the plugin.\n\nBy sharing past struggles and successes\, this presentatio
n aims to provide valuable lessons for both novice and experienced QGIS de
velopers. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the developm
ent process and practical tips for creating effective and user-friendly pl
 ugins.
