DESCRIPTION:QGIS releases three new versions per year and each spring a new
long-term release (LTR) is designated. Each version comes with a long lis
t of new features. This rapid development pace can be difficult to keep up
with\, and many new features go unnoticed. This presentation will give a
visual overview of some of the most important new features released over t
he last calendar year.\n\nIn March of 2025 a new Long-term release was pub
lished (3.40)\, and shortly before the QGIS Conference\, the latest stable
version of QGIS (3.42) will be released. I will start by comparing the ne
w LTR (3.40) to the previous (3.34). Here I will highlight some of the mos
t important new features found in the latest LTR. I will then turn my atte
ntion to the most important new features found in the latest release: 3.42
.\n\nEach highlighted feature will not simply be described\, but will be d
emonstrated with real data. The version number for each feature will also
be provided. If you want to learn about the current capabilities of QGIS\,
this talk is for you!\n\nPotential topics include: GUI enhancements * Sym
 bology * Point cloud support * Data Providers * Processing * 3D * Editing
