DESCRIPTION:In this presentation we would like to show the data model\, bas
ed on the relational database in PostgreSQL/PostGIS\, that enables the edi
ting\, management\, and versioning for the Official Administrative Map of
Portugal (CAOP).\n\nOur goal was to preserve\, as much as possible\, the s
tructure of the final data when compared to previous versions of the bound
aries. Additionally\, we sought to apply concepts and techniques already u
sed in other official national data models such as CARTTOP2 for topographi
c mapping.\n\nAlso it was needed create tools to periodically transpose CA
OP into other data models\, namely EuroBoundaries and the INSPIRE Administ
rative Boundaries theme.\n\nNone of the above would have been possible wit
hout QGIS\, that has been used as a visualization tool\, but more importan
tly as GIS platform to be used for editing the boundaries and to run autom
atized tasks (publishing\, versioning\, etc.)\, using some custom digitizi
ng/processing tools developed specifically for this use case.\n\nA special
attention has been given to the topology correctness of the resulting dat
a\, as such some custom tools have been also created to validate the outpu
 ts.
