DESCRIPTION:The Food and Agriculture Organization's Water Productivity Port
al (FAO WaPOR) is an open-access database offering a wide range of data de
rived from remote sensing products\, supporting global assessments of wate
r productivity in agriculture - an essential component of sustainable land
and water resource management. WAPlugin\, a QGIS plugin\, enables users t
o retrieve and analyze WaPOR datasets directly within QGIS\, improving acc
essibility and efficiency. Its robust validation feature\, using ground-ba
sed data\, ensures data accuracy\, increasing the credibility of subsequen
t analyses. In addition\, WAPlugin provides integrated productivity indica
tors for rapid assessment of water and land productivity trends\, enabling
informed decisions for sustainable agricultural practices. This workshop
offers a unique opportunity to harness the full potential of FAO WaPOR dat
asets through the WAPlugin in QGIS. Participants can extract valuable insi
ghts and enhance assessments of agricultural water productivity. \n\nDescr
iption\n\nThis workshop provides step-by-step instructions on using all th
e features in WAPlugin. We cover the following topics:\n\n1.	FAO WaPOR dat
a download: Participants will learn how to navigate to the specific datase
ts they need and download raster time series over various spatial extents
(canvas extent or clipped to a vector layer) using WAPlugin. \n2.	Data Val
idation: Attendees will learn a step-by-step approach on how to validate W
aPOR data using ground-based data in the WAPlugin and visualize the comput
ed results.\n3.	Indicator calculation: Participants will explore the diffe
rent integrated water productivity indicators\, how to select and calculat
e each one\, and how to visualize the results\, as well as an in-depth dis
cussion of their interpretation and significance.\n\nRequirements for the
Attendees\n\n●	Basic knowledge of QGIS is required\n●	Account to acces
 s WaPOR data (WaPOR V2: wapor.apps.fao.org or WaPOR V3: data.apps.fao.org
) \n●	Installation of WAPlugin is recommended (can be done also during t
 he workshop)
