DESCRIPTION:Modeling in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is central to
understanding the spatial and temporal dynamics of both natural and human-
made processes. Yet\, constructing such models often demands deep technica
l expertise and familiarity with domain-specific tools\, posing a barrier
for many GIS users. IntelliGeo addresses this challenge by integrating the
power of Large Language Models (LLMs) directly into QGIS through an intui
tive chat-based interface. This AI-powered assistant supports users in des
igning spatial processing models by interpreting natural language instruct
ions and translating them into executable GIS workflows.\nBuilt entirely o
 n open-source technologies\, IntelliGeo’s backend rely on general-purpos
e LLMs to facilitate interactive modeling within QGIS. Each user interacti
on helps build a curated dataset aimed at fine-tuning LLMs for geospatial
tasks. In doing so\, IntelliGeo serves a dual purpose: it empowers users t
o create complex GIS models more easily and contributes to the development
of a domain-adapted LLM for Geographic Information Science.\nIn this talk
\, we will describe the core functionalities of the IntelliGeo plugin\, ou
tline the\nstructure and goals of the emerging fine-tuning dataset\, and s
hare our roadmap for training a specialized LLM for GIS modeling and analy
 sis.
