DESCRIPTION:Elasticsearch has long offered powerful geospatial capabilities
\, yet it remains underutilized by the open-source GIS community. Two majo
r developments in the past year are changing this. First\, Elasticsearch r
eturned to an approved open-source license\, reigniting interest among dev
elopers. More significantly\, the introduction of ES|QL\, a declarative qu
ery language\, has paved the way for OGC-like geospatial functions. This s
hift makes Elasticsearch feel more familiar to users of tools like PostGIS
.\n\nIn this talk\, we’ll explore the current capabilities of Geospatial
ES|QL\, demonstrate real-world geospatial search and analytics\, and prov
ide a glimpse into future developments that will further enhance Elasticse
 arch as a geospatial database.
