DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, the approach to loading vector data in web br
owsers has shifted from traditional WMS/OGC methods to vector tiles\, allo
wing for more efficient rendering and processing. With increasing bandwidt
h and more powerful CPU/GPU capabilities\, handling data directly in the b
rowser has become the preferred choice. The same evolution should apply to
raster data: instead of preprocessing it on the server\, a more efficient
alternative is to load it directly as a Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF (COG).\n\
nThe MapLibre COG Protocol extension is a powerful tool for visualizing CO
Gs directly in MapLibre GL JS. By leveraging HTTP range requests\, it effi
ciently loads only the necessary portions of large raster datasets\, reduc
ing bandwidth usage and improving performance. This makes it ideal for han
dling high-resolution satellite imagery\, elevation models\, and other geo
spatial data. Since it enables direct cloud access from MapLibre\, organiz
ations can serve large datasets without expensive infrastructure\, making
 it a cost-effective and scalable solution.\n\nAdditionally\, the library s
upports dynamic adjustments\, such as color manipulation and band mixing d
irectly on the browser\, providing greater flexibility for dynamic data vi
sualization. As an open-source\, community-driven project\, it aligns with
other open geospatial tools\, standards and practices ensuring adaptabili
ty to future scenarios.\n\nBy combining efficiency\, scalability\, and eas
e of integration\, the MapLibre COG Protocol simplifies the use of COGs in
web mapping applications\, making it an essential tool for developers\, r
esearchers\, and GIS professionals working with cloud-based geospatial dat
a.\n\nCustom protocol to load Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFs (COG) in Maplibre G
