DESCRIPTION:For over a decade now osm2pgsql has been the standard tool for
importing OpenStreetMap data into a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database for render
ing of raster tiles and many other use cases. Thanks to several improvemen
ts in the last years centered around a flexible configuration language and
new geoprocessing capabilities\, osm2pgsql is now also a great base for c
reating a vector tile toolchain. It can easily handle imports of a small c
ountry in a few minutes as well as scale to a planet-sized database with m
inutely updates from OSM.\n\nThe talk will introduce some of the new featu
res that allow you to customize the database table layout and contents. It
will outline the few steps needed to create your very own custom vector t
iles based on OpenStreetMap data. We'll see how you can use the configurat
ion language to clean up OSM data on import and prepare it for fast access
with a vector tile server like T-Rex.
