DESCRIPTION:Never before have we had such a rich collection of satellite im
agery available to both companies and the general public. Between missions
such as Landsat 8 and Sentinels and the explosion of cubesats\, as well a
s the free availability of worldwide data from the European Copernicus pro
gram and from Drones\, a veritable flood of data is made available for eve
ryday usage.\n\nManaging\, locating and displaying such a large volume of
satellite images can be challenging. Join this presentation to learn how G
eoServer can help with with that job\, with real world examples\, includin
g:\n\n* Indexing and locating images using The OpenSearch for EO and STAC
protocols.\n* Managing large volumes of satellite images\, in an efficient
and cost effective way\, using Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFs.\n* Visualize mos
aics of images\, creating composite with the right set of views (filtering
)\, in the desired stacking order (color on top\, most recent on top\, les
s cloudy on top\, your choice).\n* Perform both small and large extraction
s of imagery using the WCS and WPS protocols.\n* Generate and view time ba
sed animations of the above mosaics\, in a period of interest.\n* Perform
band algebra operations using Jiffle.\n\nAttend this talk to get a good up
date on the latest GeoServer capabilities in the Earth Observation field.

DESCRIPTION:The presentation will provide a comprehensive introduction to G
eoServer's own authentication and authorization subsystems. \nThe authenti
cation part will cover the various supported authentication protocols (e.g
 . basic/digest authentication\, CAS\, OAuth2) and identity providers (such
as local config files\, database tables and LDAP servers). \nIt will expl
ain how to combine various authentication mechanisms in a single comprehen
sive authentication tool\, as well as providing examples of custom authent
ication plugins for GeoServer\, integrating it in a home-grown security ar
chitecture.\n\nWe’ll then move on to authorization\, describing the GeoS
erver pluggable authorization mechanism\, and comparing it with proxy base
d solution. We will explain the default service and data security system\,
reviewing its benefits and limitations.\n\nFinally we’ll explore the ad
vanced authorization provider\, GeoFence. The different levels of integrat
ion with GeoServer will be presented\, from the simple and seamless direct
integration to the more sophisticated external setup. Finally we’ll exp
lore GeoFence’s complex authorization rules using:\n- The current user a
 nd its roles.\n- The OGC services\, workspaces\, layers\, layer groups.\n-
CQL read and write filters.\n- Attribute selection.\n- Cropping raster an
d vector data to areas of interest.

DESCRIPTION:The presentation aims to provide attendees with enough informat
ion to master GeoServer styling documents and most of GeoServer extensions
to generate appealing\, informative\, readable maps that can be quickly r
endered on screen. Examples will be provided from [GeoSolutions training m
 aterial](https://docs.geoserver.geo-solutions.it/edu/en/)\, as well as fro
 m the [OSM data directory](https://github.com/geosolutions-it/osm-styles)
we shared with the community.\n\nSeveral topics will be covered\, providin
g examples in CSS and SLD\, including:\n\n* Mastering common symbolization
 \, filtering\, multi-scale styling.\n* Using GeoServer extensions to build
common hatch patterns\, line styling beyond the basics\, cased lines\, c
ontrolling symbols along a line and the way they repeat.\n* Leveraging TTF
symbol fonts and SVGs to generate good looking point thematic maps.\n* Us
ing the full power of GeoServer label lay-outing tools to build pleasant\,
informative maps on both point\, polygon and line layers\, including addi
ng road plates around labels\, leverage the labeling subsystem conflict re
solution engine to avoid overlaps in stand alone point symbology.\n* Dynam
ically transform data during rendering to get more explicative maps withou
t the need to pre-process a large amount of views.\n* Generating styles wi
 th external tools.

ct styles can be used to prepare a multiscale map\, including:\n* Leveragi
ng CSS cascading.\n* Building styles that respond to scales in ways that g
o beyond simple scale dependencies.\n* Various types of labeling tricks (c
onflict resolution and label priority\, controlling label density\, label
placement\, typography\, labels in various scripts\, label shields and mor

DESCRIPTION:The amount of data available from drones\, earth observation as
well as machinery itself (i.e. telemetry data) plus the advent of cloud i
nfrastructure has given a huge impulse to innovating the way we used to su
pport farmers and farming in general\, democratizing access to data and ca
pabilities like never before through precision (or digital) farming soluti
ons.\n\nPrecision farming (or digital farming) has therefore become one of
main use cases for GeoServer deployments over the past years and at GeoSo
lutions we have worked with many clients\, from NGOs to large private comp
anies (like Bayer)\, from startups to organizations like DLR in helping th
em to support their client to make sense of data and information through G
eoServer and other geospatial open source technologies at scale\, in the c
loud.\n\nThis presentation will condense 10 years of GeoSolutions in inges
ting\, managing and disseminate data at scale in the cloud for the precisi
on farming industry covering items like:\n- Proper optimizations and organ
ization of raster data\n- Proper optimizations and organization of vector
data\n- Modeling data for performance & scalability in GeoServer and PostG
IS\n- Deployment guidelines for performance and scaling GeoServer\n- Styli
ng to create NDVI and other visualizations on the fly\n\nAt the end of the
presentation the attendees will be able to design and plan properly a Geo
Server deployment to serve precision farming data at scale.
