DESCRIPTION:The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) is a United 
 Nations peacekeeping mission for South Sudan\, which became independent on
  9 July 2011. UNMISS was established on 8 July 2011 by United Nations Secu
 rity Council Resolution 1996 (2011) and as of March 2021\, it is composed 
 of 19\,075 total deployed personnel including 14\,222 troops\; 217 experts
  on mission\; 1\,446  police personnel\; 2\,228 civilians\; 387 staff offi
 cers and 388 UN Volunteers\, where\, it is headquartered in the South Suda
 nese capital of Juba. \n\nUnder Chapter VII of the Charter of the United N
 ations\, UNMISS is therefore authorized to use all necessary means to impl
 ement its mandate which includes:\n(a) Protection of civilians\n(b) Creati
 ng conditions conducive to the delivery of humanitarian assistance\n(c) Su
 pporting the Implementation of the Revitalized Agreement and the Peace Pro
 cess\n(d) Monitoring\, investigating\, and reporting on violations of huma
 nitarian and human rights law\n\nThe mission has decided to extend its pub
 lic outreach activities in a different method by utilizing geospatial info
 rmation and using open geospatial tools and data for showcasing some of it
 s important activities in support of above-mentioned mandates\, and for th
 is purpose contracted a service provider through bidding exercise and proc
 urement protocols. \n\nIn this general session talk\, speaker(s) will give
  their presentations on below topics:\n- UN Open GIS Initiative Background
  \n- UNMISS GeoStories architecture\, FOSS4G tools and data\n- Preventing 
 mis/dis-information by extending public outreach\n- Review selected Geosto
 ries in support of UNMISS mandate
