DESCRIPTION:WebAssembly's adoption is gaining traction and still\, its pote
ntial is not yet fully utilized\, especially for the processing and visual
ization of geo data in and outside of browsers. In this session I will giv
e a technical introduction to WebAssembly. I will show its current state a
nd adaptation in FOSS4G projects and will talk about the ongoing advanceme
nts of the technology and possible future scenarios.\n\nThis will also be
a hands-on session\, where after showing how to get up and running\, I wil
l share my experience\, tips and tricks collected while porting the latest
versions of GEOS\, PROJ\, GDAL\, SpatiaLite and osgEarth to the web platf
orm. \n\nThe composition of existing OSGeo/FOSS C/C++ libraries in a porta
ble and sandboxed form also brings many advantages outside of browsers. Th
e talk will close with some demos about how WebAssembly enables us to buil
d for the web\, as well as for any other platform.
